The location at which Park Honda South used to exist has been selling Honda products for nearly forty years. In the 1960’s the Pritz family began selling Honda motorcycles after converting the family gas station into a retail sales location. Honda automobiles were added in the mid 1970’s. In the early 1980’ John and Glenn Mears, uncle and father of the current owner, purchased the car business from the Pritz family The year before Bob Hungerford purchased the motorcycle business.

Honda cars proved to be a popular product and the business grew steadily. In 1987 Glenn Mears III purchased the business from the elder Mears and still owns the business today. As Honda‘s automobile line expanded, so did Park Honda South, purchasing the adjacent property which at one time housed New Philadelphia’s trolley cars. The huge barn like structure war razed in 1994 and additional parking lot and lot lights were added.

In 1996 the service and parts building were doubled in size as two previously separate buildings were joined together. Alignment racks, tire changers and brake lathes were added as well.

Because the motorcycle business expansion Bob Hungerford decided to move Boulevard Cycle to a larger location on the South side of New Philadelphia. Heads were put together and the space was used to create Park Performance, and audio and performance shop which can just about “do it all”.

During the years Park Honda South/Parkway has earned many recognitions for customer satisfaction and overall dealership operations. From 1991 to 1994 the dealership earned the Master of Customer Satisfaction and in 1999, 2002, 2005, and 2006 we earned the Honda Presidents Award.

In June of 2005 we opened a new chapter in our history and moved to a brand new Honda image facility on I-77 in neighboring Dover. Now doing business as Parkway Honda we are still striving for the same goals, which are doing business with integrity and making that business easy as possible for our customers. We still pride ourselves as low pressure, small town dealer but now with new conveniences such as a drive through service center, an automatic car wash and a more accessible facility for our customers.

Our business is now more than five times larger than it was just fifteen years ago, and we feel there is plenty more opportunity to continue this growth.
